The Brief
In this Hampstead family home, a modernist aesthetic based on warm tones and textural elements informed the mechanical design for a result as discreet and inconspicuous as possible.
The SOLUTION
Throughout this property, very high ceilings required a sensitive design strategy to integrate equipment into wall voids and joinery. In the study and media room, fan coils concealed within the TV joinery unit provide supply air through a discreet slot above the TV.
In the living room and the master bedroom, bespoke joinery units house the fan coils, form which air enters the room through neat slots in the top surface and the plinth. In the downstairs basement living area, a full height joinery unit was utilised for housing the fan coil, again with discreet joinery slots at high and low level for supply and return air paths respectively.
The property is ventilated through a series of circular air terminals, flush with the surfaces on which they are mounted. The entire system is served by a condenser housed at the bottom of the garden to meet local planning regulations.
